In 2014, Sheriff Perkins was involved in a feud with Escalante Police Chief Kevin Worlton, leading to Worlton’s arrest on charges of making false statements and official misconduct. Worlton alleged that Perkins’ actions were part of a personal vendetta, and the charges against Worlton were later dropped. Additionally, in 2017, a lawsuit accused Sheriff Perkins of orchestrating a conspiracy against his in-laws, the Seymours, involving the seizure and alleged illegal search of their computers without a warrant.
