In 2008, Sheriff Wally Olson was involved in a lawsuit where plaintiffs Fred and Garret Daniels alleged false arrest, false detention, and malicious prosecution without probable cause. They also claimed unconstitutional conditions of pretrial detention under his supervision. The court granted summary judgment in favor of Sheriff Olson, dismissing the claims against him.
