In August 2019, Sir Brandon Legette was shot in the back of the head by Officer Sean Rollins during a traffic stop over an expired tag. Legette survived and filed a federal lawsuit against the department and Rollins, alleging excessive force and an attempted execution. The incident sparked public outcry and highlighted concerns over police use of force.
