On October 8, 2023, Staff Sergeant Seth Boudreaux was involved in an incident where he used excessive force during the arrest of Darrin Regira Jr., who was accused of domestic abuse. Body camera footage revealed that after Regira was handcuffed, Boudreaux punched him multiple times. Boudreaux was arrested on charges of simple battery and malfeasance in office, subsequently terminated from his position, and released on a $5,500 bond. In December 2024, Regira and his wife filed a lawsuit against Boudreaux and the Sheriff’s Office, alleging excessive force and failure to properly train and supervise Boudreaux.
