Former Deputy Sheriff Stephen Bunnell was convicted in March 2022 of disturbing the peace by electronic means and prohibited conduct. He solicited nude photos and sexual favors from multiple women, offering payment that was allegedly used to purchase drugs. Bunnell met with at least one woman while on duty, driving his department’s marked cruiser, and provided her with money. Following his guilty plea, the Vermont Criminal Justice Council unanimously voted to permanently revoke his law enforcement certification in February 2024.
