On September 6, 2019, Deputy Parker was fired for choking an inmate, Johnathan McLendon, who had cursed at him. The incident occurred while Parker and another deputy were loading inmates into a van after court. Parker pinned McLendon against a wall, resulting in a bruised and reddened neck for the inmate. Parker was subsequently arrested and charged with assault. ([apr.org](https://www.apr.org/news/2019-09-11/sheriff-deputy-fired-for-choking-inmate-who-cursed-at-him?utm_source=openai))
