Create And Track Police Department History

In 2011, former Naples Police Chief Steven C. Guibord, who resigned in 2008, impersonated his successor, Chief Mark Watkins, to post derogatory comments on memorial pages for two slain Border Patrol agents. These comments were offensive to law enforcement officers and led to a criminal defamation charge against Guibord. In January 2013, as part of a diversion agreement, Guibord apologized to Watkins and agreed to avoid further legal violations for a year, after which the case would be dismissed.
