In 2017, Officer Taiwan Truitt was sued by Samuel Albert Tew, who alleged that Truitt and fellow officers employed unnecessary force during an arrest at the Dothan Opera House. Tew claimed the incident resulted in physical injuries, including broken bones, and psychological trauma. The lawsuit sought compensation for alleged violations of Tew’s rights and police misconduct.
