In June 2018, Officer Tanya Moore Ervin-Leonhardt was arrested in Cherryville, North Carolina, and charged with driving while impaired, open container, reckless driving, drug possession, and illegally carrying a gun. Witnesses reported her driving recklessly and swerving between lanes. Upon stopping her vehicle, officers detected the odor of alcohol and discovered an open container, 12 grams of marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Ervin-Leonhardt refused a breathalyzer test and identified herself as an off-duty Fort Mill police officer. She was terminated from the Fort Mill Police Department on June 3, 2018.
