In August 2024, Deputy Taylor Ericson, who was honored as the 2023 Deputy of the Year and served as the K-9 supervisor, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and grand theft auto. Authorities responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in Old Town, where Ericson was reported to have left the scene in a stolen vehicle. Following his arrest, he was placed on unpaid administrative leave pending an internal investigation. The Dixie County Sheriff’s Office emphasized a zero-tolerance policy towards domestic violence, regardless of the offender’s position.
