    In June 2020, Deputy Taylor Hairston was fired and charged with third-degree assault and misconduct in office after allegedly assaulting an inmate at the Georgetown County Detention Center. A fellow correctional officer reported the incident, leading to an internal investigation that included witness interviews and security footage review. Hairston had been employed at the detention center since October 1, 2018.
