Former Chief of Police Terri Van Dam was terminated on January 15, 2020, after reporting alleged misconduct involving town officials and employees to the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation and the FBI. She filed a lawsuit claiming her termination was in retaliation for her whistleblowing activities. In September 2021, a federal jury awarded her over $300,000 in damages, concluding that her reports were a motivating factor in her dismissal. The case was settled in August 2021.
