In 2020, Undersheriff Elliott was placed on paid administrative leave and investigated for receiving $1,100 in Deputy Medical Examiner incentive pay over 22 months without being part of the program. District Attorney John Hummel found Elliott received the payments but concluded there was insufficient evidence for criminal charges. Elliott reimbursed the county for the amount received.
