Former Police Chief Thomas Wade Butterfield faced multiple allegations of misconduct during his tenure. In July 2014, he was accused of stalking and unlawfully detaining a woman by driving her around in his patrol car against her will and making inappropriate comments. He was also alleged to have entered her home uninvited. These incidents led to his termination in October 2014. In December 2015, Butterfield was acquitted of one stalking charge, and in June 2016, the remaining charges were dismissed. Additionally, in 2014, the city of Myton paid a $50,000 settlement to a woman who claimed she was stalked and kidnapped by Butterfield.
