Deputy Gaskins was involved in a 2006 lawsuit where plaintiffs alleged he failed to respond promptly to a dangerous dog complaint, resulting in serious injuries to an eight-year-old child. The complaint stated that Gaskins chose to attend to personal matters before arriving at the scene, by which time the child had already been taken to the hospital. The lawsuit claimed that Gaskins’ delayed response and lack of proper training contributed to the incident. The trial court found that the complaint sufficiently alleged willful and wanton conduct on Gaskins’ part.
