In June 2010, Deputy Tony Dixon Cooper was accused of sexually assaulting Dylan Riggleman during a transport following a DUI arrest. Riggleman filed a civil rights lawsuit against Cooper and Sheriff Art Puffenbarger, resulting in a settlement of $76,335.44 paid by the Grant County Commission’s insurance carrier. Cooper was placed on administrative leave in July 2010 and terminated in October 2010. He was indicted on two counts of second-degree sexual assault in January 2011 but was acquitted by a jury in June 2011.
