In July 2017, Sergeant Travis Hooker responded to a noise complaint involving a gathering of 20 to 30 people. Upon arrival, he attempted to seize a stereo speaker within 30 seconds, leading to a confrontation. Hooker used pepper spray on a 21-year-old individual and arrested two individuals for resisting a police officer. A review determined that while the arrests and use of pepper spray were appropriate, Hooker violated department policies by acting too quickly and failing to de-escalate the situation. As a result, he received a three-day suspension.
