In 2018, while serving as a police sergeant in Camden County, Odise Carr was involved in an incident where an officer under his supervision used excessive force, punching a suspect in the back of the head multiple times. Carr was disciplined for failing to supervise the officer and for not reporting the use of force. He received a ten-day suspension and was demoted. Despite this, he was appointed as Burlington County Undersheriff in 2025.
