Alongside the deputy sheriff, a Washington County corrections officer was also involved in the attempted smuggling of anabolic steroids from Tijuana, Mexico. Arrested at the border by U.S. Customs agents, the corrections officer faced similar potential federal charges. The U.S. Attorney’s Office opted not to prosecute, with the expectation that POST would address the misconduct. The corrections officer was subsequently suspended for four years by POST.
