On April 21, 2023, an Indianapolis family was pulled over, held at gunpoint, arrested, and detained by Fishers police officers based on the color of their skin, according to a tort claim filed by the family. The incident began after a white male falsely reported that the family had a gun. The family was ultimately released without charge. The Fishers Police Department stated that an internal review confirmed officers responded in accordance with department policy and procedure.
