In November 2022, Dennoriss Richardson filed a lawsuit alleging that while detained, officers beat him, strapped him in a restraint chair for hours, tased him, and sprayed him with mace. He was found hanging in September 2024; his death was ruled a suicide, but his family disputes this, citing his pending lawsuit against the department.
