On September 16, 2023, a public complaint was filed alleging abuse of authority, bias, criminal behavior, false arrest, and false statements. The complainant reported that approximately $15,000 worth of gear and two guns were stolen, and despite having witnesses, the deputy did not follow up. A year later, the same deputy allegedly conducted an unlawful traffic stop, accused the complainant of trespassing and poaching without evidence, and made false statements about the complainant’s criminal history to a government employee. The complainant, a congressional relations officer and former police officer, sought to address these issues with the deputy’s superiors.
