    In September 2024, a Thurston County Sheriff’s deputy was suspended without pay after posting body camera footage on social media accompanied by a disparaging comment stating that ‘women don’t belong in law enforcement.’ The deputy self-reported the incident, and an internal investigation substantiated the discrimination allegations. The suspension was upheld after an arbitration hearing.
