In 2016, inmate Christopher Ogletree was assaulted by another inmate, resulting in a broken jaw. A lawsuit alleged that jail officers failed to implement adequate disciplinary measures and did not segregate violent inmates, contributing to a pattern of excessive inmate violence. The court found genuine disputes of material fact regarding the officers’ response to the risk of inmate violence.
