In 2012, an officer entered the home of an ex-girlfriend without her consent and physically and verbally assaulted her for being in a relationship with a Black man. The officer was suspended for six months but was not terminated. This incident was cited in Middleton’s lawsuit as evidence of disparate treatment within the department.
