In January 2022, a federal civil rights lawsuit was filed against unnamed Parkersburg Police officers who were allegedly caught on video orchestrating a false arrest. The surveillance footage, presented during the victim’s jury trial, led to his acquittal. The lawsuit claimed that the officers violated the Fourth Amendment by creating a nonexistent crime to justify the arrest.
