    In September 2021, a San Diego Police sergeant conducted a stop on a Black woman, mistakenly identifying her as a suspect with outstanding warrants. The sergeant approached her with a drawn gun without properly verifying her identity, leading to a wrongful detention. An internal investigation determined that the sergeant failed to follow departmental procedures in identifying potential suspects.
