In November 2016, Officer Vashon Williams, along with Officer Kyle Flagg, approached Lamar Wright, who was sitting in his parked car. The officers ordered Wright out of the vehicle and, during the encounter, tased and pepper-sprayed him. Wright, who had a colostomy bag due to recent surgery, was reaching for it when the officers used force. Wright filed a lawsuit against the city and the officers, resulting in a $475,000 settlement in December 2020.
