Sgt. William Hutt was involved in the March 2006 incident at the Homer airport, where he, along with other officers, fired into a vehicle containing fugitive Jason Anderson and his two young children. This resulted in the 2-year-old son, J.A., being shot and severely injured. The officers’ decision to engage in gunfire, despite knowing the children were present, was heavily criticized and led to a $3.5 million settlement for the victims.
