    On January 1, 2015, Police Chief William McCollom accidentally shot his wife, Margaret McCollom, while they were in bed. He had consumed alcohol and sleep medication before bringing a loaded gun to bed. The incident left Margaret paralyzed below the waist. McCollom resigned from his position on March 11, 2015, and was later indicted on a misdemeanor reckless conduct charge.
