In 2018, as Chief Deputy, Alexander solicited over $4,000 from the Stone County Sheriff’s Foundation to purchase AR-15 style firearms for the Sheriff’s Office. He deposited the funds into his personal account and provided a fraudulent invoice listing six firearms. In May 2019, he purchased two Remington 700 sniper rifles with Foundation funds and later sold one to a Mountain View police officer, claiming it was built from spare parts. In February 2020, he misappropriated a $3,809.10 check from the Stone County Treasurer’s Office intended for night vision equipment, keeping the funds without making the purchase. Alexander was indicted in May 2022 on multiple counts, including bank fraud, extortion, and selling a stolen firearm. He pleaded guilty in August 2023 to selling a stolen firearm and extortion under color of official right, facing a maximum sentence of 30 years in prison.
