In May 2023, Officer Gardner Pottorff was involved in an incident outside Harpo’s Bar and Grill where he used mace, a taser, and punched a man during an arrest. The incident led to a federal lawsuit alleging assault, battery, and excessive force. Pottorff is no longer employed by the department.
