Written by In February 2011, Deputy Garvin Reid allegedly raped inmate Rachel Cooper in the stock room of the Garland County Detention Center. Prior to this incident, Reid was accused of sexually harassing a female coworker by sticking his tongue in her ear and attempting to kiss her, making sexual comments to a female trustee inmate, and expressing a desire to date another female inmate. These prior allegations were reported to authorities but did not result in any disciplinary action. Following the rape allegation, Reid was charged with rape and his employment was terminated on February 7, 2011.
