Heath Allred – Carbon Hill Police Department

In 2012, Chief Heath Allred was removed from his position without a pre-termination hearing, allegedly due to his wife’s candidacy against Mayor James Richardson. Allred filed a lawsuit claiming violation of procedural due process rights. The court found that Allred had a continued interest in his employment and that his immediate removal without a hearing could constitute a deprivation of his rights. The case highlighted issues of political retaliation and due process within the department.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
