In 2021, Deputy Jason Tauer was charged with 12 counts, including embezzlement, for selling firearms belonging to the family of fallen Deputy David Wade. The firearms, valued at approximately $5,000, were pawned between April 2017 and February 2020 without the family’s permission. Tauer was terminated following an internal investigation and subsequently arrested.
