Jeff East – Arizona Rangers

In 2019, the Wine Education Council filed a lawsuit against the Arizona Rangers, alleging misuse of $175,000 in grant funds intended to support DUI enforcement efforts. Jeff East, as the commanding officer of the East Valley Ranger Company, had discretion over the use of these funds. The lawsuit claimed that the funds were not used in accordance with the specified purposes outlined in the grant agreement. The case was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona under case number 2:19-CV-02235.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
