Jeremie Stauch – Independence Police Department

In March 2023, Officer Jeremie Stauch ordered the deployment of stop sticks during a high-speed pursuit of a stolen vehicle. The use of stop sticks caused the suspect to lose control, leading to a crash that killed two innocent bystanders, Jake Monteer and Jessica Fields. A lawsuit filed by Monteer’s family alleges that Stauch’s actions were negligent and directly endangered public safety.
