Former Sergeant Jim Stegmaier alleged corruption and harassment within the Reno Police Department. He claimed he was forced to resign after reporting misconduct, including receiving a pornographic text message from a fellow sergeant and uncovering derogatory information about another officer. An internal affairs investigation had previously determined that Stegmaier pointed his gun at other officers. A federal jury rejected his lawsuit against the city.
