Joseph Gondeck – Castle Rock Police Department

On May 27, 2021, Officer Gondeck released his K-9, Maverick, which attacked and bit the groin of a handcuffed man, Carlos Gonzales Del Hoyo, during a stolen car investigation. The dog continued the bite for two minutes. Del Hoyo filed a federal lawsuit alleging excessive force. The outcome of the lawsuit is pending.
