Josh Doggrell – Anniston Police Department

In June 2015, Lieutenant Josh Doggrell was terminated from the Anniston Police Department after the Southern Poverty Law Center revealed his association with the League of the South, a neo-Confederate group advocating for a second secession and a white-dominated nation. Doggrell had addressed the group’s annual gathering in 2013, expressing views that aligned with the organization’s mission. His public Facebook profile also displayed symbols and messages associated with white supremacist ideologies. The city determined that his conduct damaged public perception and trust in the police department. Doggrell filed a lawsuit claiming his termination violated his First Amendment rights, but in September 2017, a federal court dismissed his case, upholding the city’s decision to fire him.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Violation of these rules will result in immediate content removal and possible account suspension.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
