Between December 2022 and February 2023, Operations Bureau Chief Karl Woolridge was accused of retaliating against deputies who reported issues with the department’s payroll processing system. Deputies alleged that Woolridge removed them from on-call duties and reassigned them to undesirable shifts after they raised concerns about on-call and overtime pay discrepancies. Eight deputies filed a claim against the county, seeking $94,000 in damages for violations of Arizona’s overtime and minimum wage laws and for the alleged retaliation.
