In February 2022, Fleet Officer Lennie Valentine was arrested and charged with malfeasance in office after detectives discovered he had purchased and provided cell phones for inmates to smuggle into the Sherman Walker Correctional Facility. Valentine confessed to his participation in the illegal operation and was subsequently terminated from the Sheriff’s Office.
