Matthew Blaine Till – Selma Police Department

In April 2020, Officer Matthew Blaine Till, along with Deputy John Nicholas Taccone, pursued and assaulted a Black man following a road-rage incident involving Till’s wife. The officers tased, punched, and kicked the victim during a 90-second encounter. Till also threatened to kill the man. Both officers were charged with felony second-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment, and obstructing governmental operations. Till was fired from the Selma Police Department and pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice in federal court for instructing Taccone not to disclose the initial call from his wife. He was sentenced to five years’ probation and barred from future law enforcement employment.

Important Community Guidelines

It is strictly against our rules to:

  • Make threats of any kind
  • Share private information such as personal emails, home addresses, or phone numbers

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
