Michael Brandon Smirnoff – Tallassee Police Department

On March 29, 2016, while serving as a police investigator, Smirnoff assaulted a handcuffed, compliant 24-year-old man by lifting him into the air and slamming him to the ground twice. He also slammed the victim’s head into the side of a patrol car. Smirnoff pleaded guilty to violating the victim’s civil rights and was sentenced to 22 months in prison on July 18, 2019.
