Michael Fox – Macon Police Department

In January 2013, Officer Michael Fox entered a private residence without a warrant and handcuffed a juvenile, E. Martin, to ‘teach him a lesson’ about throwing things at dogs. Fox did not report the incident to his superiors. Upon discovery, the Macon Police Department’s Internal Affairs investigated, finding Fox violated several internal policies, including intervening in situations involving family or friends without a supervisor’s order and improper use of handcuffs on juveniles. The Disciplinary Review Board unanimously recommended Fox’s termination; he resigned after receiving notice of his pending termination.

Why This Matters

By organizing this data, we can potentially demonstrate when officers were previously aware of laws they later claim ignorance of, challenging qualified immunity defenses and promoting accountability.
