In 2011, Deputy Michael Havicus was sued for allegedly assaulting John Adkins at a horse-riding event called the Fall Trail Ride. Adkins claimed that after he calmly requested the band to continue playing, Havicus assaulted him with a metal retractable baton, breaking his left eye socket and nose. The lawsuit also accused Havicus of jumping on Adkins and spraying him with a chemical, preventing others from assisting him. Adkins was never charged with any crime related to the incident.
