Officer Michael Johnson was found to have used excessive force during a traffic stop on June 15, 2018, resulting in serious injury to the civilian involved. An internal investigation concluded that Officer Johnson violated department policies regarding use of force. He was subsequently terminated from the department and faced civil litigation, which resulted in a settlement paid by the city.
