Michael Long – Saint Clair County Sheriff’s Office

In December 2015, Deputy Michael Long was notified of the intent to terminate him following an incident where he drove his police vehicle into a flooded roadway, rendering it incapacitated. Despite no evidence of fault and other officers receiving no discipline for similar incidents, his termination was upheld on January 6, 2016. Long filed a lawsuit alleging arbitrary and capricious deprivation of his rights as a law enforcement officer and citizen of Alabama.
