In May 2022, former deputy Michael Phipps caused over $50,000 in damage to his Eatonville home, violating a protection order obtained by his wife. He sent explicit photos to his wife, threatening to distribute them. Phipps was arrested in June 2022, fired from the department, and in October 2023, sentenced to nearly 2.5 years in prison for stalking, malicious mischief, violating a no-contact order, and disclosing intimate images.
