In 2020, Officer Miguel Deras was terminated from the Logan Police Department after an internal review concluded he mishandled sensitive evidence related to the Lauren McCluskey case during his previous employment at the University of Utah Police Department. The investigation found that Deras showed explicit photos of McCluskey to other officers who were not involved in the case, leading to inappropriate and unprofessional comments. This conduct was deemed inconsistent with the high expectations and standards of the Logan Police Department.
